2. The VDM Report
Under the Bligh Labor government, a steering committee was formed to implement a port authority for Southport and the Gold Coast Broadwater. A large number of proposals were being made to redevelop the Broadwater and establish a Cruise Ship Terminal. This was happening against a background where there were many presumptions being made but there was little real understanding of the Broadwater's ecology.
An analysis of the Broadwater and every aspect of its ecology was commissioned in 2011.
This is now known as the 'VDM' report and it is the most detailed investigation of the Broadwater ever undertaken.
The report has been broken into two parts for viewing and downloading.
