The West
During the winter of 2017 we travelled through the heart of western Queensland, up to the Northern Territory, north-west Queensland and then back to the Gold Coast.
This was a tour through warm hearted country towns that had not changed in 50 years, a place where strings of waterholes become rivers in the wet, flood plains in the big wet and and a place where wild life still runs free.
We recorded over 200 different species of birds and photographed about 150 species. There is much to see in our western regions if you simply take the time to look around.

Darwin 2014
In 2014 we spent March in Darwin. The heat was unbearable but the wildlife was exceptional.

We travelled through Poland and Latvia in the early Autumn in time to catch birds on migration. Most people go to these lands to sample the history, scenery and architecture. We did this too but took notice of the wonderful birdlife.

Africa is well know for its birdlife and large mammals. In South Africa most of this life is limited to well defined parks but in the wilds of Namibia these great creature still roam free.
1. South West Namibia. This is a country where it actually gets drier the closer you get to the ocean. Join our tour through this interesting landscape.

2. We travelled north from here to one of the most stunning national parks in the world - Etosha. This is a huge salt pan similar to Lake Eyre, but the surrounding area has many springs that provide water for animals
Link - Etosha.
3.North of Etosha is the Angolan Highlands which spawn several of the great rivers of Africa including the Zambezi River which finds its way to the Indian Ocean. Another great river which rises here is the Okavango. This large river spreads out into a broad swamp known as the Okavango Delta and the loses itself in the Namibian Desert.

4. We finished the Namibian experience at Victoria Falls and the nearby Chobe National Park.
